I had a hard time deciding what to do with this piece of wood. I really liked the rough cut appearance of it, but the color and figure of the wood underneath was absolutely gorgeous. So, I went with both. I wish I had a better camera that could really bring out the character of this wood- it is unbelieveable. The bottle is reclaimed as well. This sconce looks great with flowers or LED lighys in it. The bottle is held on by a leather strap. It is finished with Danish oil.
Dimensions: 20”L x 4 1/2”W

This set of wall sconces is made from some of the most incredible curly maple I have seen. It has an extremely tight curl which makes the chatoyance just roll with the light. In addition to the beautifully tight curl, it also a very intersting figure as well. The bottles are recycled from the local recycling center. The bottles are held on with strips of leather. This tea light candle runner has a rich walnut base and a top made of
spalted maple. Maple becomes
spalted when a particular fungus infects the tree. While unpleasant
and deadly for the tree, the effect makes for some beautiful and unique works of art. This piece is finished with Danish oil and polished with a rubbed wax.

Walnut and Spalted Maple Candle Rrunner

Wormy Chestnut Candle Runner
This candle runner is made from a reclaimed wormy chestnut board. I did very little milling on the central runner to preserve the weathered look of the board. The feet on either end are made from the same piece of wood as the runner. It is finished with a thin coat of lacquer; just enough to give it a seal without altering the color of the wood.

Curly Maple Tablet Stand

This beautiful curly cherry did all the work for me. There was nothing I needed to do to bring out the beauty of it. It is made from one solid piece of cherry and is finished with several coats of butcher block oil to seal it and make it foodsafe. Believe it or not, this incredible piece of wood was a cast-off destined for the burn pile.
